Well, it’s official. One of my good friends, who wishes to remain anonymous, just forwarded me a photograph of him lounging in his summertime swimming pool while reading my (presumably) waterproof novel.
This may not seem like front page news, but consider these realities:
- I myself have yet to hold the book in my anxious little hands (actually, this statement is technically incorrect; my hands are enormous).
- My bulk order of author’s copies are slowly (slowly) making their way through the mail system and may or may not arrive in time for my thrice-postponed, official, local, COVID-19 diluted open-house book launch scheduled for 7-9 p.m. on Friday, July 24, at the Grand Mesa Arts & Events Center, 195 West Main Street, Cedaredge, Colorado. *Everyone is invited. And the books, of course, are also invited. What are they waiting for? An engraved invitation?
- Meanwhile some guy in California (who also doesn’t have the book) is nevertheless selling it as ‘used’ for nearly double the cover price. Is California living on a different temporal plane? (Don’t answer that.)
- I’ve published with Kindle Direct Publishing, a print-on-demand service. But I’m still waiting for my copy. Apparently, I ain’t demanding enough.
